What would you do to save a life? Or even to be a witness to others that you stand for life. This is what I did with my sister last Monday, and the Wednesday before that. We held signs in front of an abortion clinic, which happens to be right next to my high school. The signs we held said, honk if you love life, and abortion stops a beating heart. We got a number of honks, and thumbs up, but also got a lot of eyes that didn't look our way. I feel that either they didn't see us, or didn't choose to see us. Something made them not want to look at us, or our signs. Their point of view staggered their conscience and told them to look the other way. But don't they realize that 30,000 innocent babies are being killed everyday due to abortion? How can we fight for disease to save a life, or give money to the poor to save lives, or even help lives in Darfur, ect... but can't help lives that are being killed in our own backyard, all across America.
We have to realize that all life is precious, and this includes life in the womb, who can not voice out their own opinion. This is our turn to speak out for the unborn. Please write your comments, and let me know what you think about this issue.

I'm happy you did this! From doing research a few years back for an abortion debate, I learned that the "aborted" are still life, it is scientifically proven, but I think people fail to believe whether or not it has 'feelings' or to get deeper into it; which is questionable depending on belief, whether or not there is a soul? Either way abortion is flawed. But I would like to hear your opinion of the other side of the argument: As a woman, I would assume you could relate, that if a woman gets raped, and does not have the physical or emotional/mental strength to carry the child for nine months do you think abortion in that kind of a case should be allowed? Personally, I am 18, and I know there are options of adoption etc, but I can only imagine the damage a woman would have mentally and wish not to carry the child. Not only the fact of carrying a child that was conceived in a rape case, but at a young age in High School/College it would be physically/emotionally/mentally draining to go through with it, while risking education, and answering to friends/family of 'your pregnancy'. To bring up one more point, underage mothers have a high chance of giving birth to an "abnormal child". LOLL sorry for such a long reply, you know I love a good discussion! =]] <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for you long response! I truly do appreciate it, and for your questions and feedback. I'm glad you know it's a life - and yes that the baby can feel the pain of it being ripped into beings during an abortion.(sorry, I know gruesome details, but a lot don't know what an abortion entails.) A baby's hear starts beating at 21 days. This human being already has all of it's own genes and Dna, making it ,like us unique and special, because no one can replace this person nor us. By only 28 days, this unborn baby has budding arms and legs.I understand what you are saying about rape. Of course rape is a serious issue. However, statistics show that it is only one percent of occurrences. But just because a life was conceived through rape it doesn't make the matters any different, it's still a human being. I guess, the only thing that is 'different' is if the baby is wanted or not. You mentioned adoption, and this is a great choice, since so many couples can not conceive and are trying to adopt. Unfortuanelty it's really difficult to adopt from the U.S., since there are 300,000 plus abortions happening each day. So they adopt from foreign countries.
DeleteAbortion seems like a good 'choice' but actually is the worst choice of all, even through acts of rape. Many do not know the effects of abortion on a woman. It's not just physically but also mentally, psychologically. Having an abortion increases the risk of breast cancer by 40%. I t makes it difficult, or impossible to have children after an abortion- it increases each time. Abortion stops a heart, and breaks another. The woman has depression, and regrets ever having aborted her child since she knew it was a life.
You mentioned underage mothers, and how their chance of giving birth to an abnormal child is higher. Actually, like I mentioned earlier, couples who can not have children, want a child with down syndrome, yet these are the babies who are being aborted because they are not 'perfect' to some. Yes, they may be more work, and even more demanding and high maintenance, especially for a young mother,. But if you think about it, all life is precious, and should be valued and respected. I feel that kids with down syndrome, or other disabilities teach us all something. One of those things, is to love, especially life.
A few good books I have read, that you may be interested in have to do with these issues. The first one is called Won by love. I read it a few years ago, and it's about Norma McCorvey, who was Roe v. Wade, and helped make abortion legal in 1973. Now she is pro-life, and it tells her story.
Another one is called the Atonement child, which I finished about two months ago. It's a novel, and it's about a college girl who gets raped, and is considering an abortion for a long time. The ending is a good one.
The next book is called Unplanned, it's really good(well, they all are.) It's about a lady named Abby Johnson who worked at Planned Parenthood(they do the most abortions in the U.S.)she also had 2 abortions herself. But it told her story of her experience working there. Deep down inside she knew it was wrong, and while doing an abortion, she saw the baby in the womb trying to get away from the probe to do the abortion. It was fighting for it's life, but in seconds that baby was was gone. And the last book IO will talk about is about a girl named Gianna Jessen, whom I actually met at a pro-life conference a few years ago. She has cerebral palsy because she was going to be aborted,l but she lived through an abortion. She was the sweetest person, and was so happy to live life. She is truly lucky. The book about her is called Gianna, aborted and lived to tell about it. I own this one, and Unplanned. All great reads!
I hope this answers some of your questions, I know this is super long!Thank you so much again for responding to this one, and a few others!
