I feel like the majority of people today are thinking about themselves. Either about how bad they are feeling, how their day is so miserable because the weather is crummy, because they have a head cold and can't seem to concentrate, or maybe just because they haven't eaten all day and could eat a whole mule right this very second.
But whichever the reason is, it's perfectly normal, because everyone thinks about themselves first, it's predominately human nature.
However, just because it's human nature and usually comes automatically, doesn't mean that it's necessarily healthy or good. I feel that it's very important for other people to care about other people,to treat how others want to be treated. I see so many people always having their phones in front of their faces, communicating to their virtual friends because they have none by their side at the moment.
Of course it's okay to use your phone, it's just that when one is so dependent on it so much, that it's their friend in times of loneliness and insecurity isn't so healthy, yet it has become second nature for our culture.
I feel that if you are alone, or perhaps feel so lonely, to get unlonely and converse with others around you.
Also to try and focus, or rather think about other people throughout your day, like friends, family who you may not see everyday. I try to do this myself, instead of always having my thoughts all about me. I feel it's a much better use of time too.
That's one of the reasons why I write letters, to keep in touch with people whom I care about. It's a sign of showing that you care about them. And in the long run, makes you yourself feel good, by making some else happy. (As well as Christmas cards, which I'm planning to send out soon!)
Furthermore, conversations today I feel are one sided, with one person asking the questions and the other answering them. Actually to be honest, that's not even a conversation, it's more like an interview, like a talk show host would do to a celebrity. I feel like conversation etiquette is lacking in todays world, and I think this is linked to superficial and or shallow and short lived friendships.
By being more aware of how we treat others, talk to others and care for others play a big part in our society. By doing so we are succumb to be more open to people, rather than closed minded. So even to take a moment to think about someone whom you care about, or to make an effort to talk to someone is a step towards thinking about things that really matter in our daily lives.
