Black and white, singing, dancing, and complex plots, these are some of things that consist of old movies. I feel that old movies are not watched and have been forgotten. Although they are still shown, usually you can find a film or two on a Saturday night on channel 9. If there is one on, I usually watch it... with no commercials!! Old movies give off a different taste and new experience that other films, like today don't give off. They are more complex, than just about a pet dog who is loved more by his owners than their own kids, and eventually dies at the end. Though some people like these sort of movies, I find them to be boring, predictable and I think I'd rather read a book, or rather do my homework than watch these sort of movies.
I don't know why, but for a while I have been drawn to old movies/TV shows. If I'm correct, the first color film was The Wizard Of Oz, though it had both black and white and color.I feel that old films give something to the audience that contemporary movies and shows don't today. First off, old movies are creative, and unpredictable than movies today that by seeing the cover of the movie, or hearing the title, you automatically have a clear idea of what is going to happen, and you're usually right! Old films give a scent of elegance, class, grace, and talent that can out number a lot of what is being shown today.
Though it can take a little while to get into an old film, since the plot and story isn't brought to the audience in the first scene, but rather a few scenes after. So to most people they think that it's boring, though they haven't stayed with it long enough for them to stay interested in it.
Some movies I found out about were from the channel 9 that shows old films. I recommend them, and these include, Top Hat (Fred Astaire, Grace Kelly), Charade (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant), Jezebel (Henry Fonda, Bette Davis), and also some that you can check out... It's a Wonderful Life, which is usually on T.V. on Christmas Eve, Roman Holiday, Singin' in the Rain, On the Waterfront, and many more.
So just because old films don't give off color, they let you to use your imagination, and after a while your brain adjusts to it, almost like a film with subtitles... at first it's annoying to look at the bottom of the screen to know what the people are saying, but after a short while it's no big deal. So if you feel that you don't like old movies because of this, then it's not a bad idea to give it another try. For black and white can't be all that bad.
